With Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band ready to invade Milwaukee for a show Sunday night at the Bradley Center, the folks at the Pfister Hotel are asking a familiar question:
Are you loose?
The query stems from Oct. 2, 1975, when Springsteen and the boys visited the Uptown Theater for one of Milwaukee's legendary concerts -- "The Bomb Scare Show."
Acting on a tip, authorities evacuated the hall in mid-concert. During the delay, the band retreated to the Pfister hotel bar -- or, as Springsteen slurred it when the show resumed, "the PFFFFFFFFffffffister!"
After several drinks, the bartender asked the band "Are you loose?" When the show resumed, Springsteen asked the crowd the question several times during a memorable and it has come up nearly every time he's played in MIlwaukee since.
To celebrate this piece of rock ‘n' roll history, The Pfister is "getting loose" with Glory Days specials at Blu, hotel's 23rd floor lounge. Anyone who asks the bartender "Are you loose?" can purchase drinks at 1975 prices. Blue also will feature two theme drinks for the week: The Spring-stini and the Martin-E Street Band.
In addition, the Pfister will present a display of photos from the evening taken by Robert Cavallo, who has published a book entitled, you guessed it, "Are You Loose? Bruce Springsteen Live at the Uptown Theater."
The photos will be displayed in the Twenty-Three room, which is adjacent to Blu. Springsteen is playing a show Friday night in Michigan. It's not certain whether he or any of the band members will be at the Pfister this weekend, but hardcore fans might want to make a pilgrimage just in case.
