This morning, Fromm Family Foods and Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. announced not a musical act coming to the Summerfest grounds, but animals. On Sept. 20, Fromm Petfest is coming to Henry Maier Festival Park.
The festival, running from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., is a free event designed to bring family members of both two-legged and four-legged varieties together down by the south end of the Summerfest grounds. The event will play host to a multitude of pet-related attractions, including dock diving, agility demonstrations, nutritional seminars, a pet-themed marketplace, grooming competitions, contests, live music, food, games and many other activities.
Petfest will also work with the Wisconsin Humane Society and the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) in order to raise funds for the two organizations and help local animals in the area. This includes an "Adoption Avenue" where visitors can meet dogs and cats looking for new homes.
"Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. is proud to partner with Fromm Family Foods to bring yet another free event and programming to Henry Maier Festival Park," said Don Smiley, President and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. "Petfest will be a great addition to this year’s fall festival schedule and give the community the opportunity to enjoy time at the festival grounds with the whole family and their pets."
Parking and admission are free to Petfest, and dogs and cats are welcome to the event as long as they are up-to-date on vaccinations. Other participation rules are available at Petfest's website.
