The sixth annual Peep Show is set for Sunday, April 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bay View Brewhaus, 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.
The event -- which asks for a $2 donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society -- invites the public to create art pieces from marshmallow Peeps to display during the show. Artistic talent is always appreciated, but certainly not necessary.
Not to brag, but I did a nice job showcasing absolutely no artistic talent a few years ago when I lightly chewed a few pink Peeps, spit them into a (never used) avocado green bed pan and declared it "Peep Poop." Another year I wrote a series of Peep-ku, including a haiku about how much Jesus loved Peeps. It turns out, anyone can find inspiration in these sticky, fluffy, uncomfortably neon, barely-edible Easter-time treats!
Organizer Nicole Reid suggests that you buy your Peeps now, take them out of the plastic and let them get a little stale before trying to create with them.
"They are easier to work with when stale," she says.
And some of us, prefer to eat them when stale, too. But not too stale.
