OnMilwaukee is determined to collect 999 jars of peanut butter for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin this holiday season with the help of ultra-kind people and businesses.
(And yes, we've had the earworm "999 jars of peanut butter on the wall" for weeks now.)
How can you help? It’s easy: just grab an extra jar (or two or three or …) of peanut butter next time you are at the grocery store and drop it off in a bin at one of these locations:
- AJ Bombers 1247 N. Water St. and 11340 W. Burleigh St., Wauwatosa
Bring in a jar and get $2 off a Barrie Burger or $1 off a Barrie Concrete mixer. - CityCenter at 735, 735 N. Water St.
The bin is in the lobby of this historic building. - Fuel Cafe on 5th Street, 630 S. 5th St.
Bring in a jar and get a peanut-butter cup drink for $3. - Hawthorne Coffee Roasters, 4177 S. Howell Ave.

Why peanut butter? According to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Executive Director Patti Habeck, peanut butter is the healthiest and most appreciated food item to donate.
"Peanut butter is gold. It's not only a protein but it can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner and kids can make it safely for themselves if their parents or caregivers are working or not providing supervision," says Habeck.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading hunger relief organization in the state, operating food banks in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley. With a network of 600 member organizations, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin provides food to 400,000 people each year.
