On Tuesday, June 16, an event coordinated by the Historic Preservation Commission and the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance will pay tribute to the work and contributions of Paul Jakubovich.
Jakubovich was a staffer for the Historic Preservation Commission for 20 years, working to preserve Milwaukee's historic structures and pass on his knowledge of Milwaukee architecture and history to others. Last December, he passed away after battling kidney disease for many years.
The event – which starts at 5:30 p.m. at Best Place at the Pabst, 901 W. Juneau Ave – will feature personal stories from those close to Jakubovich and community announcements concerning special programs in Paul's honor.
"Paul dedicated his life’s work to preserving Milwaukee’s built environment, and his meticulous knowledge of the city’s architectural ancestry was unmatched," said city clerk Jim Owczarski. "His work and dedication is worthy of celebration, and that is what Tuesday’s event is all about."
