The reopening of the Oriental Theatre was a joyful occasion for many Milwaukeeans, but arguably even more exciting is the massive expansion of the women’s restrooms.
The ground-floor ladies loo, which was once a single-seater, now has eight glorious stalls and sinks. The new floor and wall tile is reminiscent of the old tile, which gives it a warm, familiar feeling.
To execute the expansion, Milwaukee Film was able to lease an open storefront, located just south of Landmark Lanes.
The upstairs restrooms will be updated during the third phase of Milwaukee Film’s renovation plans, set for 2020.
"For nearly 10 years now, our audiences have made their desire known for more accessible women's restrooms on the first floor," says Milwaukee Film communications and press director Emily Foster.
"In fact, one of the loudest cheers we ever received at a Monthly Member's Screening was when we announced our plans to build the women's restroom on the first floor."
