Caterina's -- Caterina's Ristorante, 9104 W. Oklahoma Ave., has been serving up Italian cuisine in West Allis for over 25 years, and there's a reason it's stuck around so long. The service is fantastic and the food is excellent and well presented, even on busy nights. Dinner prices come out to around $20 per person, but this also includes complimentary fresh bread, an antipasto appetizer plate and soup or salad. Judging from the number of regulars, I'm sure I'm not alone in recommending it. -- Renee Lorenz

international art magazine published by local artists Jessica Steeber and Cassandra Smith. The largely textless magazine traverses styles and mediums while defining its niche in the world of art publications. Pot pies from Metro Market -- Roundy's Metro Market has really stepped up its prepared, grab-and-go foods in the past several months. The Downtown grocer, 1123 N. Van Buren St., (another location in Brookfield and soon in Mequon) offers many items, several under $5. But, the chicken pot pies stand out for this guy. Only $3.99 and full of veggies and chicken, it's an easy -- if somewhat fattening -- meal. Cook at 350 for 30 minutes and you're good to go. -- Jeff Sherman
Verizon Mifi 2200 – When I first got my hands on the Verizon Mifi, I thought it was nice, but didn't get much use out of it. At a Bucks game, not long after, the wireless went out, leaving those of us in the media to grumble and complain. That's when I remembered the little black box in my work bag and fired it up. The connection isn't as fast as your home internet, but it does the job and does it well. Up to five devices can connect wirelessly to the Mifi, which can also be used with a direct-USB connection to your laptop or desktop computer. Because the plans (which, admittedly, are a bit pricey) have caps on data usage, by no means do I suggest using the Mifi to replace whatever service you have at home. However, if you are on the go a lot and frequently find yourself needing to get connected, Verizon's Mifi will be a tremendous help. -- Andrew Wagner
