{image1}Are you considering college, but just not sure? Or, do you have a child who is on the cusp of being college-bound? If so, a new program called "The Odyssey Project in the Humanities" might be the ticket.
This free college program gives students the opportunity to try the college experience before committing to it. Classes meet twice a week for eight months at UWM with Professor David Mulroy.
The class provides a supportive environment for students who are skeptical or nervous about starting college. Throughout the course, they will study great masterpieces of philosophy, literature, art and history.
Students who complete the class receive six college credits, free of charge.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and their household income cannot surpass 150 percent of the federal poverty line, although special circumstances will be considered.
Also, students in The Odyssey Project must be able to read, have a willingness to complete assignments and achieve perfect or near-perfect attendance.
The UW Extension, COA Youth and Family Centers and the Wisconsin Humanities Council sponsor this program.
