For the ninth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2015."
As The Business Journal first reported, the "historic Button Block building in Downtown Milwaukee could reopen as a 94-room Hilton Homewood Suites near the beginning of 2017 under a renovation plan by Bear Development."
This would mean that the first floor tenant, Joey Buona’s would have to move.
The question, then, is where to?
Buona's may not be Downtown's most popular spot, but it's good. Andy Tarnoff and I are long-time fans of its Italian beef sandwiches and since it’s such a large space it’s great for parties. And, of course, it used to be Brett Favre’s Steakhouse, so it has that going for it.
So, where should Joey Buona's make its new home?
I’d love it to stay in greater Downtown. How about Michigan Street? The Shops of Grand Avenue? The new Downtown post office development? The Pritzlaff Building? The former Edwardo's space/area? Or, the new arena entertainment area/center?
