We all have our routine in the morning. I’ve been an oatmeal and blueberry guy for as long as I can remember. Sure, I have the occasional breakfast meeting with an omelet or pancakes and I always do a big breakfast on one of the weekend days. But, for the most part oatmeal and blueberries are my things.
A few months ago, though, I changed my routine. Now, the morning meal is a protein shake. Pro-Optimal Whey from Dr. Mercola’s website, if you need the brand name. I mix the powder with ice, water and either organic or coconut milk. It’s easy, tastes great and maybe I’m still in the early phase of conversation but I truly think it gives me additional energy and focus.
I’ll occasionally still have a bowl of Rice Chex and blueberries after the shake. But nothing more. I’ve also cut out, for the most part, gluten in the mornings.
Hat tip to my buddy Matt who recommended and endorsed the Mercola brand. It’s natural, healthy and doesn’t have a crazy aftertaste like many "healthy" protein drinks can.
I’m digging my new breakfast, and if you’re also looking to shake up your mornings I’d highly recommend it.
