Two living country legends – Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard -- will play together in concert on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Milwaukee Theatre.
Nelson’s career spans six-decades and more than 200 albums. He is one of the most storied, most musically talented, heaviest pot smoking activist Texan in his generation. Haggard is affectionately referred to as "the poet of the common man."
Along with Buck Owens, Nelson helped to develop the "Bakersfield Sound" – a unique subset of country defined by the particular sound of the Fender Telecaster. Both Nelson and Haggard helped to create the "outlaw country" music scene of the 1960s and 197os, and it should come as no surprise that the duo happens to be close compadres.
On June 2, the living legends of country music released a new duet album "Django & Jimmie," which peaked at the top of the country album chart. But this isn’t the first time that the two have come together. The first installment in their longstanding musical friendship, their wildly successful collaborative album "Pancho & Lefty" – another chart-topping country album – was released in January 1983.
