Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin will be well-represented in a variety of NCAA championships this weekend, beginning with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swimmer Emily McClellan.
The sophomore from Delavan qualified for the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin today and runs through Saturday.
McClellan qualified in the 100 and 200-meter breaststrokes and the 200 Individual Medley. She enters the weekend ranked in the top 10 in the nation in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 200.
It’s the second year in a row McClellan has competed in the NCAA championship after becoming the first Panther to do so last year.
Women’s hockey: The University of Wisconsin Badgers have advanced to the Frozen Four this weekend in Duluth, Minn. in search of back-to-back national championships and their fifth title overall.
The Badgers will play Boston College at 5 p.m. on Friday. Should they advance to the final, they will face either Minnesota or Cornell on Sunday at 3 p.m. All games will be played at the Amsoil Arena in Duluth.
All three games will be streamed live on NCAA.com in high definition for free. Video links for the games will also be posted to NCAA.com as they are made available.
Men’s basketball: The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men’s basketball team is playing in the Division III Final Four this weekend in Salem, Va.
The Warhawks will face the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday at 7 p.m.
This marks UW-Whitewater’s first Final Four appearance since winning the 1989 national championship. Should they advance to the championship game, they will face either Illinois Wesleyan University or Cabrini College.
