The Milwaukee Mustangs announced that linebacker Marcus Everett and defensive end Luis Vasquez have been named to the Second Team of the Arena Football League's prestigious All-Arena defensive team.
It was the second recent honor for Everett, who was named to the 2012 All-Ironman Team last week. The third-year jack linebacker started all 18 games of the regular season for the Mustangs and was named defensive player of the game three times and the AFL's MVP of the Week once.
Everett tallied 6.5 tackles, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two fumbles forced, and a team-high nine interceptions for the Milwaukee defense, while also tying a Mustangs franchise record with three interception returns for touchdowns.
Vasquez followed up his impressive 2011 season with a 2012 campaign in which he was named defensive player of the game four times. The second-year Mustang tied fellow defensive end Dwayne Lefall for the team lead with 8.5 sacks, while tying a franchise record with four fumble recoveries.
The Week 13 Defensive Player of the Week also totaled 28.5 tackles, 11.0 for a loss, five pass breakups, two quarterback hits, two blocked kicks, and a forced fumble to become a presence on the Mustangs' defensive line.
The two All-Arena Defensive Teams consist of nine players on each squad that are considered the best defensive players in the Arena Football League. Players are selected based on votes from coaches, public relations directors, the AFL office and fans.
