Mr. Dye’s Pies, a bakery long known for its indulgently sweet creations, has added something new to the menu at the 3rd Street Market Hall, 275 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Owner Johnathan Dye has tapped into his savory side to perfect a brand new line of hand-crafted pasties, the savory hand-pies long known as a great choice for hearty, on-the-go meals and time-saving dinners at home.

Among the options at Mr. Dye’s Pies, customers will find three tasty pasties:

  • Ground beef pasty:  A classic take on the pasty, filled with seasoned ground beef, golden potatoes, celery, carrots, and a secret blend of spices.
  • 3 Mushroom pasty:  A vegetarian pasty featuring the earthy flavors of white, portabella, and shiitake mushrooms, golden potatoes, onions, carrots and a hint of thyme and turmeric. Avocado oil brings things together with a buttery element.
  • Maxwell Street Polish & sweet onion pasty: This pasty, filled with smoked beef Polish sausage, sweet onions, bell peppers and golden potatoes, was inspired by the bold flavors of Chicago street food fare.

All hand-crafted pasties are $11.99 each.  Toppings, including sour cream, nacho cheese and gravy are also available for $1 each.
