Mysteries, fairy tales and even real life have included incidents with poison and, consequently, most of us find the subject both scary and fascinating. The Milwaukee Public Museum has a new exhibit, The Power of Poison, that's organized by the American Museum of Natural History and runs though July 7.

The interactive, larger-than-life, somewhat-eerie exhibit does a fine job exploring the complexities of poison, which can have effects from medical miracles to death.

Here are 5 reasons to check out The Power of Poison. And be sure to keep the poison theme going by visiting both "snake buttons" at the museum after checking out the exhibit.

1. Solve a mystery poisoning

Figure out who or what accidentally poisoned living creatures in this virtual "whodunnit."

2. Discover the positive sides of poisons

Wait, what? Spider venom cures cancer?

3. Attend a "mad" tea party

There's a good reason why he's called "The Mad Hatter."

4. Cackle with the witches

Witches and poison potions (and apples) fill fairy tale books, but find out the truth and misconception behind them.

5. This magical book
