Football bringing you down these days? Well, thankfully futbol is just around the corner with the 2022 World Cup lacing up in just over a month.
Considering the unconventional winter timing of the global soccer extravaganza, several local sports bars and soccer hangouts are already getting their plans together – including Moran's Pub, which today revealed it's going above and beyond with a special World Cup watch party on Friday, Nov. 25 at Oak Creek's Drexel Town Square.
On Black Friday, Moran's will share its futbol festivities with Drexel Town Square – at 8040 S. 6th St. – for a full day of World Cup cheer, complete with the biggest games on the big screen. The party will open its doors at 9 a.m., with Netherlands versus Ecuador kicking off their group stage matchup on the big screen at 10 a.m.
The featured event, though, will take the field at 1 p.m., with the United States taking on England in a critical early Cup clash.
And to make sure fans have more to gorge on than just global soccer greatness, the World Cup watch party will feature food trucks on site as well as beer and craft beverages served by Moran's.
"I’m excited to bring this family-friendly event to Oak Creek, and I can’t thank the city enough for its partnership," said James Moran, owner of Moran’s Pub, in a release. "Our pub has been in the family more than a quarter century, and our passion for soccer and the Bucks, Packers and Brewers comes through in everything we do. That will be on full display in Oak Creek."
“We take pride in the special events we bring to our city, and this World Cup weekend will be a truly unique family experience," said Oak Creek Mayor Dan Bukiewicz, in the release. "I can’t wait to see Drexel Town Square come to life with the World Cup – and show off our city to fans from across the region."
For more information on the watch party – as well as the rest of the soccer bar's special plans for the World Cup back at its usual hub at 912 Milwaukee Ave. – check Moran's Pub's Facebook page and website. And for more World Cup updates, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
