Welcome to Monday Musings -- a cousin of Saturday Scorecard, which was placed on temporary hiatus this week due to a flooded basement. (Special thanks to Gross Heating, S&K Plumbing and Servicemaster for all their help).

This is going to be a busy day, so let's start spraying line drives around the infield.

Swan song? Just about everyone in town expects Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak to be fired before the end of the week. New general manager John Hammond is expected to hire a veteran coach, with Rick Carlisle, Jeff Van Gundy and Larry Brown reportedly on his radar.

A lot of Bucks fans look at the team's disappointing finish and assume that Krystkowiak was a major reason for the malfunction. I don't know if he can coach in the NBA or not, but few will argue that Krystkowiak was dealt a terrible hand.

If half of the jaw-dropping stories about egos, selfishness and locker-room turmoil are true, it's doubtful that the ghost of Red Auberbach could have turned this team into a winner.

In terms of media coverage and general public interest, the Bucks operate in the shadow of the Packers, Brewers and even the Badgers / Golden Eagles. The only way that changes is Hammond turns the team into a winner. His first priority will be addressing the coaching situation. His second should be finding a new home for Michael Redd and / or Mo Williams, who clearly can't exist in the same starting five.

Our advice? Keep Andrew Bogut and Yi Jianlian and surround them with young, eager players like Royal Ivey and Ramon Sessions. Dump the players with big egos and huge contracts.

For the diehards who plan on attending tonight, give Krystkowiak a hand. He's the same hard-working guy you liked as a player and he did his best in a nearly impossible situation.

Something missing: The Masters is always awesome. It's one of the best events on TV. But, it's just not as exciting when Tiger Woods isn't making the magic. Nothing against Trevor Immelman, but the final round could have used an injection of larger-than-life drama. Tiger is the guy who can provide that and his putter wouldn't let him.

Start spreading the news: The Brewers are off to an interesting start and their weekend trip to the soon-to-be-razed dump known as Shea Stadium was a case in point. They lost to Nelson Figueroa on Friday, beat Johan Santana on Saturday and overcame a 6-2 deficit with a barrage of timely hits and inning-saving double plays in a 9-7 victory in the finale.

Steve from Florida points out that the good news (the Brewers are 8-4, Gabe Kapler is a machine, Jason Kendall is the best No. 9 hitter in the league, Ben Sheets is acting like an ace and Eric Gagne has shown flashes of brilliance) is offset by the bad (Weeks, Braun Fielder, Hall and Hardy all are batting below .226, Braun has zero walks and Fielder has no homers).

Back for more: It wasn't a major surprise that Dominic James is coming back for his senior season at Marquette. James seems to like new coach Buzz Williams and his post-graduate choices may come down to a battle between the D-League and Europe.

Playoff-bound: While the Bucks limp to the finish line, the Admirals and Wave begin post-season play.

The Admirals face Chicago in a West Division Semifinal series beginning Wednesday in Rosemont, Ill. The Wolves swept the Admirals last season. After Game 2 Friday night in Chicago, the teams return to Milwaukee for Game 3 Sunday at the Bradley Center. Game 4 is slated or April 23, also in Milwaukee.

The Wave will play a two-game semifinal series against Baltimore. Game 1 is Wednesday night in Baltimore. Game 2 is Sunday at U.S. Cellular Arena. If the teams split the two games, a one-goal tiebreaker will be held Sunday.

The championship game will be played at 6 p.m. April 26 in Milwaukee.

Mequon Rams? The St. Louis Rams will visit Concordia University this week as they continue their quest for a new training camp site. Concordia has two artificial turf fields, a new dorm and close proximity to Milwaukee. The Rams also are considering UW-Oshkosh and Madison.

Crushing blow? The Bonecrushers, Milwaukee's franchise in the Continental Indoor Football League, spent last week denying reports of financial difficulty and trying to overcome massive turnover in both the coaching and playing ranks.

Late in the week, ESPN Radio 1380 in Janesville reported that the entire Rock River Raptors coaching staff resigned.

The Bonecrushers swear they'll finish out this season, but the real test will come next season. That's when Joe Panos and his friends will debut the Milwaukee Iron, an Arenafootball2 team that will begin play at the Bradley Center.
