The annual Stout Fest is back on at MobCraft Beer this year and the Walker’s Point brewery will unleash four variants of its Padishah.

The Fourth Annual Stout Fest takes place Saturday Dec. 11, at 505 S. 5th St., and will include the new release of the barrel-aged beers, an ugly sweater contest, bag toss, ping pong, foosball, hammerschlagen, stout trivia contest and a holiday present-wrapping competition.

There will be a popup bottle shop and limited edition gold snowflake stout glassware for sale, and the beer garden will be open, with burn barrels providing warmth.

“At the start of fall, we will start brewing our annual stout, Padishah, for the following year,” says Director of Barrel Operations, Adam Thomas. “We source barrels from our friends at Great Lakes and Central Standard, as well as the Barrel Broker who always has a good variety of oak.

“I like to bring in a variety of barrels to give our blends depth as well as leave some room for more experimental spirits and flavors.  After filling barrels around October, they are aged over the course of the next year or longer to be blended, packaged and served at Stout Fest.”

This year there are nine variants and the original, though only four of them will be released in cans at Stout Fest. The remainder will be sold as exclusives at retail (though there will be kegs of most of them at the fest). A full list is below.

Padishah, says Thomas, loosely translates from the Persian as “master king,” and the beer – aged 14 months – packs 11 percent ABV.

Releasing at the taproom during the festival are:

  • Padishah 2021 - Imperial Stout. A blend of our favorite barrels.
  • Padishah Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel
  • Padishah Central Standard Bourbon Barrel
  • Padishah 7-year-old Old Fitzgerald Bourbon Barrel

The four variants will be available in a variety pack.

These beers will also be released at the event:

  • Barrel Aged Boston Cream Dream
  • Grasshopper Milk Stout
  • Big Foot Brownie Stout
  • Solid Non Fail Stout
  • Eight Year Anniversary Stout

According to MobCraft, “the taproom will be dedicating almost all of the 31 lines to different stouts including all 2021 Padishah variants, a few 2019 and 2020 Padishah vintages (Padishah Central Standard Rye 2019, Padishah Great Lakes Pumpkin Spirit 2019, and Padishah Port 2020), heavy hitting favorites such as Solid Non Fail, Beelzebub's Run and Kringle Monster, and a variety of other seasonal and one off stouts.

“The taproom will also tap a barrel-aged Boston Cream Dream Pastry Stout for the first time.  A few draught lines will be dedicated to easy drinking beers for those who don’t want to drink dark.  Flights will be available.”

Food will also be available from noon until 9 p.m., including beef stout stew hand pies, Milwaukee onion soup with stout, cheddar and stout meatloaf bites and stout “Beeramisu.”
