It's the saddest day of the Milwaukee Film Festival: the final day. But don't cry because it's over; smile because there are still SO MANY GREAT MOVIES TO SEE! So many, in fact, that I went over my arbitrary limit of three to see and threw in a bonus recommendation. There's a film shot in Japan and a film shot right in Door County, two movies with big names and two movies with terrific unknowns, documentaries and dramas.
In short, get to the Milwaukee Film Festival today, because these movies are great – and you've got around 350 days until you'll be able to do it again. Here are my picks for the final day of the 2018 film fest.
Here's when and where you can find my three to see (with a bonus) for the last day of the Milwaukee Film Festival.
- "Support the Girls" will screen at 6:30 p.m. at The Times Cinema
- "Love, Gilda" will screen at 6:45 p.m. at the Jan Serr Studio Cinema
- "Shoplifters" will screen at 7 p.m. at the Avalon
- "Back at the Staircase" will screen at 7:30 p.m. at the Oriental Theatre
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
