The new Bucks arena is still months away from opening to the public, but it's already gathered together quite the welcoming party of massive acts for its inaugural year, from Justin Timberlake to The Eagles to Kevin Hart and more.

This morning, the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Complex (WESC) named yet another huge get: Metallica, bringing its "WorldWired Tour" to the new venue on Oct. 16. 

The concert marks the hard rock legends' first Milwaukee visit in almost a decade, having last play in Brew City in 2009 at the Bradley Center. 

For more than three decades, Metallica has been one of the most popular names in thrash and metal music, releasing hit albums – most recently 2016's "Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct" – and iconic hard rock songs like "Enter Sandman" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls." During that time, the band also earned 23 Grammy nominations – including two at the 2018 awards ceremony for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song – and nine wins.

The band hasn't just dominated the live stage over its many tenacious and turbulent years; in 2004, Metallica starred in the critically acclaimed and remarkably intimate rockumentary "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," showing the personal and creative turmoil behind the scenes of the band. The band also released a 3-D concert film, "Through the Never," in 2013.

All of that has combined to make Metallica one of the most commercially successful rock bands of all time, as well as one of the most revered – with Rolling Stone naming the group one of its 100 greatest artists of all time in 2010.
