Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Don Majkowski (1987-'92) stopped at Zim's, 770 N. Milwaukee St., Friday night.
The 43-year-old Majkowski spent most of the time talking to friends and fans on a couch under one of the sports bars huge flat screens. Zim's owner Mike Zimmer said a college roommate of his is good friends with Majkowski and that the former QB has been in a few times.
Ironically, Zim's was hosting a Class of 1987 reunion for Wauwatosa East High School (this author and Mike Zimmer are members of that class). Majkowski was the Packers’ 10th round draft choice in 1987.
He'll probably forever be remembered for throwing a last-second touchdown to beat the Chicago Bears 14-13 at Lambeau Field in 1989 in the famous “Instant Replay” game.
According to his Web site, Majkowski currently lives with his wife Kelly and their two children (Danielle, 8 and Bo Cannon, 6) in suburban Atlanta where he runs a real estate business. He also does NFL commentary and writing.
A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.

Early in his career, Sherman was one of youngest members of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, and currently is involved in numerous civic and community groups - including board positions at The Wisconsin Center District, Wisconsin Club and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. He's honored to have been named to The Business Journal's "30 under 30" and Milwaukee Magazine's "35 under 35" lists.
He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
