One of my favorite East Side restaurants is making some changes. Maharaja, 1550 N. Farwell Ave. "slimmed down" the current menu two months ago and will soon be creating a whole new wine list.
Plans for the future include a new facade for the building, an interior remodel, outdoor dining and a possible second location in Wauwatosa or Brookfield, according to owners Balbir Singh and Baldev Bolla, who have owned the business since 1997.
The restaurant will also offer specials, including a happy hour special from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with $5 appetizers and $5 cocktails ($3 for each cocktail thereafter).
The popular lunch buffet will continue, seven days a week, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $11 on weekdays and $12 on weekends. The weekend buffet will offer more items.
Dinner is also served nightly from 5 to 10 p.m. and until 10:30 on Friday and Saturday evenings. During the week, certain dishes will be on special.
"We want to differentiate from the competition and offer a complete dining experience with quality food and drink, attentive service in a lively atmosphere," says Singh.
