A new partnership between Growing Power and Maglio Companies aims to set an example for sustainable food distribution.

A partnership between Maglio and local food pioneer Will Allen and his non-profit, Growing Power, will result in the construction of 11 hoop houses next door to the company’s headquarters in Glendale.

These hoop houses are meant to represent a paradigm shift in local food distribution, aiming to supply a fresher product by cutting down the travel time of produce.

As fresh food travels across the country it loses quality and flavor. Maglio and Growing Power’s new system will grow chemical-free, hand picked produce that can be processed and delivered regionally within 24 hours of harvest.

Since 1902, Maglio has striven to be a leader in providing innovative solutions to meet every customer’s unique fresh produce needs. The new partnership with Growing Power supports the Maglio mission, as well as Growing Powers efforts to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities.
