It’s a big week for concert announcements in Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin State Fair are getting in on the action, as well.
On Tuesday morning, the fair announced that southern rock legends and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform at the Bank Five Nine Amphitheater main stage on Saturday, August 9th. A special guest opening act will be announced at a later date.
Lynyrd Skynyrd aren’t an annual visitor to the city, but are making the stop as part of their 50th anniversary tour. This will mark the band's first Milwaukee-area show since playing the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary in 2013, and they last performed at the Wisconsin State Fair in 1994. The upcoming show will be just their 16th performance in the Milwaukee area since their first show in 1974. In June, the band will also be headlining Summer Jam in Eau Claire.
Tickets go on sale Friday, February 14 at 10 a.m. through the Wisconsin State Fair website.
Announced Bank Five Nine Amphitheater headliners (so far):
- August 1 - Boys II Men
- August 4 - We The Kingdom
- August 5 - Kidz Bop Live
- August 7 - Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias
- August 8 - Darius Rucker
