Former Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has stepped up to the plate, investing in the new 3rd Street Market Hall.
The former Central Division Champion chose to invest following his attendance at the United For Waukesha charity event hosted at the food hall last December.
According to an announcement from the Market Hall, Lucroy – who played nearly seven seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and earned the Central Division Championship title with the team in 2011 and graced the MLB All-Star game in both 2014 and 2016– has missed the culture, the food, and most importantly, the people of Milwaukee ever since he made his departure. Now, six years after leaving the city, Lucroy wants to invest in the future of Milwaukee and visit more often.
“I loved going back to Milwaukee in December and visiting 3rd Street Market Hall,” said Lucroy in a release. “The United For Waukesha charity event they hosted reminded me of why I love this community. I want to help Milwaukee succeed and 3rd Street Market Hall seems like the perfect opportunity to do so.”
Lucroy received widespread support from Brewers fans when he visited last month.
“I think he’s finally realizing how much this city still loves him,” said the market hall’s General Manager, Eric Kaye. “Milwaukee misses him as much as he misses Milwaukee. We’re glad he chose 3rd Street Market Hall and we’re excited to have him as one of our investors.”
