August may technically qualify as summer movie season, but you wouldn't know it looking at next month's theatrical release schedule. There's the Brad Pitt action comedy "Bullet Train" and ... hello? Anyone else wanna come out and play? It's a pretty dire slate – and if you're looking for Hollywood blockbusters on the Big Red Streaming Monolith, welp, there's not much help there either as Netflix will lose plenty of big names next month. 

How big? How about once the biggest movie of all time, about one of the biggest disasters of all time? Indeed, James Cameron's "Titanic" will go on ... to another streaming service somewhere along with the sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters ever ("The Dark Knight Rises"), several "Mission Impossible" adventures, the original comedy hit "Anchorman" and the sneaky subversive sci-fi adaptation "Starship Troopers." A number of big-name horror hits will take a final stab at Netflix audiences as well, including "The Conjuring," "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Halloween."

The baseball playoff chase may heat up in August, but baseball entertainment on the streaming service will cool off as the steroid doc "Screwball" will take the diamond for someone else after the start of the month. And speaking of competition, if you're someone who loves "Wheel of Fortune" – and for some reason knows which seasons of the game show are which – rounds 35 through 37 are spinning off to another home.

Tough month for fans of the legend Martin Scorsese too as not one, not two but three of his most popular films – "Taxi Driver," "The Departed" and "GoodFellas" – will leave Netflix as well. But hey, at least the master's got a new movie coming out later this year ... on Apple TV+ instead of here. Great, another streaming service.
