Great news fish lovers. Not only do you not have to wait until Friday to enjoy your beloved fish fry this week, but on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 25-26, from 3 to 10 p.m., State Fair Park hosts Milwaukee's Largest Fish Fry.
This sounds like a fish fry enthusiast's dream come true!
More than 15 restaurants will be on hand to dish up their fish fry. Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 at the gate. There are group rates for parties of four or more and children 12 and under can enter free (two per adult ticket).
You can also get the $6 rate at the gate by bringing three non-perishable food items for the Hunger Task Force.
Tickets include entry, live music by Sigmund Snopek and others, along with sides (fries, rye bread and butter, tartar sauce and ice cream). Fish will be sold a la carte in 3-ounce portions for about $3 each.
Among the restaurants on hand: Serb Hall, The Trysting Place, Goolsby's, Tanner Paull, Beer Belly's, Izumi's, El Guapos, Port of Call and a number of others.
To get there, enter the fair grounds at gate 4 or 5 on 84th Street or gate 2 on Greenfield Avenue. The event will be held in the Cousins Subs Amphitheater next to the Milwaukee Mile grandstand.
I hope local filmmaker Ron Faiola will be on hand to get some footage for a sequel to his great film, "Fish Fry Night Milwaukee."

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
