Theatre X will perform the world premiere of "Krazy Kat" from Thurs., May 1 through Sun., May 25.

The play, directed by John Schneider, is the story of Krazy Kat, from George Herriman's famous comic strip, who is in love with Ignatz Mouse. Meanwhile, Offisa Pup is hot for Kat, forming a dysfunctional and unrequited triangle of love. Yes, even though it's from a comic strip, sex and death are a part of the plot.

Nationally acclaimed cabaret singer, Claire Morkin, stars as Krazy Kat and Johnathan Wainwright takes on the part of the mouse. Laura Gray and Michael Moynihan also star in a number of roles.

The play, derived from Jay Cantor's 1945 novel that was based on the comic strip, is about how opposites endlessly attract, like cats and mice, Jews and Christians, men and women. It also explores the human need for both love and pain and reminds how difficult it is to become a feeling human being.

Performances are Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sundays in the Broadway Theatre Center's "black box" theater, 158 N. Broadway. Tickets range from $22-$25 and opening night is "pay what you can night." Students get in for $5 and seniors get $5 off any ticket price. For tickets or more information, call (414) 291-7800.
