Happy International Karaoke Day, Milwaukee!

Karaoke has not let up in popularity since it came to Milwaukee in the '90s. It's fun, afforadable and welcoming whether you have the voice of an angel or the devil's snarl.

Fun tidbit: an old saying goes that "karaoke" is Japanese for "tone-deaf." However, it comes from the Japanese "kara," as in "void," and "oke," which means "sutora," a Japanese derivative of "orchestra."

Milwaukee has myraid bars and lounges with "karaoke nights" and here are 10 we recommend:

1. AMPED Private Suite Karaoke & Events
910 W. Juneau Ave., (414) 939-8592
