Good news for Milwaukee filmmaker Brooke Maroldi and producer Allyson Bahr. They've been invited to the fiercely competitive 2006 Independent Producers Conference at the prestigious Sundance Institute in Utah this August.
Their film, "Generation Jazba," focuses on the lives of four Muslim college students -- all first-generation Americans -- as they navigate through the complex labyrinth of Islamic covenants, family obligations and mainstream Western culture. Milwaukee's Qudsia Sethi wrote the original piece.
“Being accepted into this Sundance conference is like winning the Golden Ticket into Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory,” says Bahr.
To offset expenses, a fundraising event will take place on Saturday, July 22, at Art Bar, 722 E. Burleigh St. from 7 p.m. to midnight.
