Maybe it's the nature of my job, or maybe my friends have too much free time at work, but I get forwarded a lot of hilarious and sometimes ridiculous Web sites.
Many of them are decidedly NSFW, but plenty of them are. Simple, one-page sites like SteakhouseOrGayBar.com, islostarepeat.com, abevigoda.com, or old favorites like zombo.com, yourethemannowdog.com or webhamster.com.
Every time I see one of these sites, I always think, "I could have thought of that!"
And today, I'm asking, "Why haven't I?"
Here at OnMilwaukee.com, we have a team of brilliant designers and programmers, as well as the traffic and social media clout to get the word out about the next Internet legend in the making.
All I'm lacking right now is the brilliant idea for its concept.
Such epiphanies only come about -- at least for me -- once in a blue moon. To date, they've included:
- An idea for a store called "All That And A Bag Of Chips," where, with every purchase, you get a free bag of chips (probably too dated now)
- The realization that if you turn the map of Wisconsin upside down, it looks like a guy with a mullet (I already exploited that with a now defunct Web site I built called MilwaukeeMullets.com)
- Milwaukee's need for a great online daily magazine (thus, I created OnMilwaukee.com 12 years ago ... and counting).
But what I'm looking for now is the next grass-roots, easy-to-execute, one-page, super-awesome Web site. And I'm looking for your help. It's not a money-making proposition, really, just a way to imprint ourselves on the rich, viral and weird fabric of the Web.

He returned to Milwaukee in 1996 after living on the East Coast for nine years, where he wrote for The Dallas Morning News Washington Bureau and worked in the White House Office of Communications. He was also Associate Editor of The GW Hatchet, his college newspaper at The George Washington University.
Before launching OnMilwaukee.com in 1998 at age 23, he worked in public relations for two Milwaukee firms, most of the time daydreaming about starting his own publication.
Hobbies include running when he finds the time, fixing the rust on his '75 MGB, mowing the lawn at his cottage in the Northwoods, and making an annual pilgrimage to Phoenix for Brewers Spring Training.
