Heading out to catch the Indians and Angels, but not sure what to wear? Don’t worry, a local Milwaukee T-shirt maker has you covered.
Insomniac Ink produced a limited number of shirts for the “Milwaukee Indians” in honor of the city’s relationship to the Cleveland franchise as County Stadium filled in for Cleveland Municipal Stadium in the movie “Major League.”
“I don’t think we can sell many, but that’s not what this is about, it’s just a fun shirt to wear,” says company co-owner Ross Salchow. “We are just going to make a few for our friends and good customers and go have some fun at the ball games.”
The shirts feature the phrase “est. 1989 (re-established 2007)” in reference to the film, which was filmed here in 1988 and released a year later. Oddly enough, the opening day of the three-game series coincides with a special edition of "Major League" being released on DVD.
The shirts are available online at the company’s Web site (listed below), but Salchow might be able to hook you up if you see him at the ballpark.
Also on the Web site are novelty shirts saluting the Brewers ’82 season, the Bears 1985 Super Bowl season, and several others that pay due respect to the style and sophistication of West Allis.
