Need some news to help warm up this cold week? This should help, as Summerfest today announced its latest headlining act for 2023: blockbuster rock act Imagine Dragons, along with AJR, on July 8, the final day of next year's Big Gig.
The "Believer," "Whatever It Takes" and "Radioactive" rock act last played Milwaukee earlier this year, selling out Fiserv Forum in February. However, arguably the band's biggest Brew City show came at Summerfest in 2013, when it played the Miller Lite Oasis near the beginning of its burst into fame – and almost burst the Big Gig in the process. Imagine Dragons returned to the summer festival five years later in 2018, this time on the Amp stage.
AJR, the opening act for next year's Amp-headlining show behind hits like "Bang!" and "Burn the House Down," is also no stranger to Milwaukee or the Big Gig's biggest stage, playing the American Family Insurance Amp this past June after outselling its original booking at the BMO Harris Pavilion.
Tickets for the dynamite double act will go on sale beginning Friday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. at Summerfest's website as well as Ticketmaster. Tickets will also be on sale in person at the Big Gig's box office.
The show marks the second Summerfest headliner announced thus far, already revealing the Zac Brown Band will hit the festival on June 23. For more Big Gig updates to help the summer feel closer, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
