Milwaukee has numerous spots for ice skating, both indoors and out (when weather permits, of course). Some have skate rental, some do not, and a bunch are staffed by volunteers with limited hours, so make sure you brush up on the details before hitting the ice.
The Dinky Rink
Milwaukee Public Market
It may be the smallest rink in the area, but that just means more fun! Opened for the season on Feb. 3, this pop-up ice rink on the north side of the Milwaukee Public Market holds eight skaters at a time while offering outdoor heaters, covered seating and access to all the market's tasty shops. Eble Park Ice Arena
Brookfield
The former home of the Milwaukee Admirals is now a public rink. Eble Park Ice Arena, 19400 W. Bluemound, offers year-round skating, but check the website for the schedule and pricing. Skate rental is available.
Hart Park
Wauwatosa
Wauwatosa’s Hart Park, 7300 W. Chestnut St., has free outdoor ice skating from 8 a.m. to sunset every day of the week. No skate rentals are available, but there is a restroom and free parking.
Konkel Park
Greenfield
The Dan Jansen Family Fest Rink in Konkel Park, 5151 W. Layton Ave., provides free outdoor skating and skate rental for up to 100 skaters at a time. It’s open from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 4 to 9 p.m. Friday; and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The rink also has a warming area and concessions. For more information, go here.

East Side
Lake Park’s new rink, 2975 N. Lake Park Rd., is ready for the season. It’s free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is not an on-site warming house or skate rental.
Pettit National Ice Center
Wisconsin State Fair Park
This indoor facility is a professional rink that’s often open to the public, located at 500 S. 84th St. The facility rents hockey, figure and speed skates or guests can bring their own. Hours and prices vary, so go here for the most relevant information.
Slice of Ice
Red Arrow Park
Skate in the heart of Milwaukee’s Downtown at the rink in Red Arrow Park, 920 N. Water St. Public skate hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Skate rentals are $9 for adults and $7 for kids under 18. Skating is free if you bring your own ice skates. There’s also a warming house attached to a Starbucks and fireplace, restrooms and an ATM.
Waterstone Bank Ice Rink
Center Street Park
This outdoor rink, 6420 W. Clarke St., is open weekdays from 4 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.; weekends from noon to 9:45 p.m. The community-supported rink has a warming house and is staffed by volunteers. Call the friends of Center Street Park with questions at (414) 342-0215.
Wilson Ice Arena
Wilson Park
This NHL-sized, indoor rink is located at 4001 S. 2oth St. Skate rental is available. Open-skate times and prices vary, so go to the website to find out latest information if planning a visit.
