The Hounds & Tap is now open for dogs and dog lovers in Menomonee Falls. It's the first business of its kind to open in the Midwest.
"Our mission is to connect hounds and humans to make every day a play day. This is at the core of everything we do," says co-owner Leah Neuroth.
The 12,000-square-foot facility offers daycare, boarding, grooming, self serve dog washing, an indoor/outdoor dog park and a tavern.
"We wanted to create a space where dogs and their humans can come together in a safe, clean environment that is grounded in our community," says co-owner Jeffrey Wilgus.
To hang out at The Hounds & Tap, all dog owners must show proof of up-to-date dog vaccinations. In addition, all hounds must be at least four months of age, be spayed or neutered if over six months of age, and have a dog- and human-friendly temperment.
The tavern and dog park have a separate entrance from the rest of the facility and feature TVs, WiFi and a full bar with local craft beers, wine and cocktails. A variety of local food trucks will park regularly on site.
"The Hounds & Tap caters to dogs and dog lovers, but all humans are welcome, whether they own a dog or not," says Neuroth.
