Yesterday afternoon many in the close-knit media circles in Wisconsin started to exchange messages and send prayers and well-wishes to Steve "The Homer" True and his family.

True was hit by a suspected drunken driver on Wednesday morning, suffered injuries and was sent to Froedtert Hospital.

After it was reported, messages of support started pouring in from local community members and around the globe.

"Homer is a beloved figure in the annals of Marquette basketball. The entire Marquette University community is praying for Homer, his wife Nancy and his family this evening, and we ask everyone do the same," Marquette University's vice president and director of athletics, Larry Williams, said in a statement.

True, who is the play-by-play announcer for the NCAA Division 1 team, also is a co-host of "Homer and Thunder" on WAUK-AM 540 ESPN in Milwaukee and WTLX-FM 100.5 ESPN in Madison.

Matt Salmon, who I had the opportunity to work with during Operation Football and High School Hysteria football games a few years ago, is often heard on the show. On Wednesday and today he sat in for True with Mitch Nelles.

"Started as an intern for (True) in January 2006," Salmon posted on Twitter. "I've learned so much from him over the last 7+ years. Praying for a full of recovery."

True’s co-workers Dan Needles and Drew Olson on "The D-List" offered today’s show in honor of their injured colleague’s recovery.

"D-List is embracing life and love and celebrating his signature basketball play-by-play call: ‘Oh, BABY!’" the station posted on Facebook. "Tell us about something positive and exciting in your life that makes you say ‘Oh, BABY!’"

The "Oh, BABY!" and "living the dream" comments come quickly when True is on the air. And many hope those phrases ring true in his recovery from the automobile crash injuries as well.

"I hate to blow (True’s) carefully cultivated persona, but if you know him, you know he truly is a kind, generous and remarkable person," co-worker and ESPN Wisconsin senior NFL writer Jason Wilde posted on Twitter.

As for an update on his condition,  former OnMilwaukee.com sports guy and current WTMJ-AM 620 voice Doug Russell posted this update on Facebook at about 4 p.m. this afternoon: "Got some good news about our friend Steve "The Homer" True today. Buzz Williams and Marquette Deputy AD Mike Broeker visited him for about 30 minutes this morning and report that he is in great spirits and as cranky as ever."

EXPANDING: When I checked in with sports talk radio host Bill Michaels earlier this week he talked about his Bill Michaels Sports Network and how it has grown since 2011.

Well today, it grew a little larger, adding WVRQ-FM Q102 and WVRQ-AM 1360 in Viroqua, Wis. The stations are located in the Coulee Region, near La Crosse.

"WVRQ has been a station that we've been interested in for some time and we're thrilled to be talking sports with even more Wisconsinites," Michaels said on the air today.

"I've never been to Viroqua, I can't wait to visit and see what makes that area of the state so special ... looks like a Harley road trip."

ON TONIGHT: "Paradise Rising," the name of the third season of Adult Swim’s live-action show "Eagleheart," premiers tonight at 11 p.m. on the Cartoon Network.

This new season follows U.S. Marshal Chris Monsanto (played by comic actor Chris Elliott) on a quest to find his missing friend, prove his innocence in a death and uncover the "truth" behind the origins of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Previous episodes of the shortened show used to be one-offs, wrapping up the plot points in a single show. But this season, it will be completely differed. The format will allow for a different type of storytelling.

"Eagleheart: Paradise Rising" will follow a single story arc from beginning to end with returning stars Chris Elliott, Maria Thayer and Brett Gelman. The show is written and executive produced by Michael Koman, Andrew Weinberg and Jason Woliner, and directed by Jason Woliner. David Kissinger, Conan O’Brien and Jeff Ross from Conaco Productions serve as executive producers, and Joshua Throne serves as producer.
