For anyone who has ever camped out for the perfect viewing space along a holiday parade route, a hot cup of coffee or cocoa is a traditional way to beat the winter chill.
At the Milwaukee Holiday Parade, a tradition of goodwill has continued to provide a more charitable feeling of warmth for parade-goers, as well as a much-needed supply of food for the city's families in need.
For the eighth year, Johnson Controls will combine their sponsorship of the Milwaukee Holiday Parade with the Hunger Task Force's Food for Families program. As part of their efforts, employee and family volunteers from Johnson Controls' Community Involvement Program will be collecting non-perishable food donations along the parade route.
Johnson Controls and Hunger Task Force are encouraging everyone in attendance to donate with the hope of surpassing last year's record donation total of 10,000 pounds.
The 84th annual Milwaukee Holiday Parade features a new parade route that will step off from the corner of Kilbourn and Prospect Avenues at 9:30 a.m. The route will run west along Kilbourn and south onto Old World 3rd Street before ending in front of the Shops of Grand Avenue Mall.
