Guinness is my beer of choice. I find it flavorful, creamy and light. Yes, light.
At 125 calories, it's almost as low-cal as a Miller Lite which has 96 calories. But this is not the only reason why I drink it. I like how refreshing it is. Yes, refreshing.
For many people, bartenders included, it seems dark beer means a heavy beer and if a place doesn't have Guinness, they immediately suggest another stout. Most other stouts are thick and too sweet for my palate.
It's like offering Tabasco (which is a tangy pepper sauce) when I ask for a hot sauce (Sriracha, please).
This blog definitely falls into the "first world problems" category, but to me, Guinness is Guinness. There is simply no replacement.
Except maybe Irish whiskey.
