Summerfest will return on Sept. 1, along with your favorite high school playlists as the Big Gig announced today that The Hella Mega Tour – featuring Fall Out Boy, Weezer and Green Day – will open the world's largest music festival on Wednesday, Sept. 1 with a joint-headliner show at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
The three pop punk bands delivered some of the biggest radio hits of the '90s and 2000s, including "American Idiot," "Holiday," "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)," "Sugar We're Going Down," "Say It Ain't So," "Hashpipe," "Beverly Hills," "Buddy Holly," "Dance, Dance" and so many more. They've all kept well busy and in the charts since then as well, with Weezer releasing the hit cover of "Africa," Fall Out Boy churning out popular arena rock hits like "Centuries" and Green Day turning "American Idiot" into a Broadway show – and, just today, releasing the new song "Pollyana."
Tickets for the triple feature will go on sale at The Hella Mega Tour's website on Friday, May 21 at 10 a.m., with a pre-sale beginning the day before at 10 a.m.
With today's announcement, the Summerfest headliner lineup now looks like this:
