Less than a year after opening its third taproom, in Wauwatosa, Good City Brewing has announced another in the Mequon Public Market.
The new taproom – there will be no brewhouse there – will occupy the 1,000-square-foot space that previously housed Anodyne Coffee.
The location, which co-owner David Dupee expects will open in late spring, will also serve food and will open directly onto the market's outdoor patio.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add a brewery of Good City’s caliber to the Mequon Public Market,” says Shaffer Development's Cindy Shaffer, which owns the market.
“A local brewery taproom will only enhance the overall guest experience and further solidify the Mequon Public Market as a top destination.”
Good City co-founder Dan Katt adds, “This is an exciting opportunity for us to continue to grow the Good City brand throughout the Milwaukee area. We believe beer brings people together, and so we are honored to join a great group of local tenants at the Mequon Public Market and contribute to its existing energy and momentum.”
According to Dupee, the Tosa taproom has been a boon to the craft brewery, which opened on Farwell Avenue on the East Side in 2016 and has since opened a second brewery and taproom in the Deer District Downtown and has moved its offices and warehousing to Century City on the North Side.
"It was certainly a gamble at the time but has proven to be a life line," says Dupee of the Tosa taproom in the Mayfair Collection mall. "It’s our busiest location to date."
Mequon, he says, has a, "Much smaller footprint but we’re very high on the location!"
Last year, Good City announced the 1% For Our Home program, which commits 1% of annual sales to support affordable housing for community members and employees.
"1% For Our Home is a commitment to Seek the Good through our growth and give back to the community and teammates that have carried us to this point,” he says.
The company donated $40,000 via the program in 2021.
So, buying a beer in Mequon will now help support affordable housing in Milwaukee.
