Last week was a crazy week for our city and state alike. As Milwaukee continues to respond to the increasingly impactful COVID-19, we bring you the third installment of our series of episodes speaking with leaders grappling with the virus and its impact.

In this episode, we begin with a conversation with Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes – first talking about the April election, then Wisconsin’s response to COVID-19 as a whole.

Next, we talk to Dr. David Margolis of the Wisconsin Medical College about the virus itself, its spread and how his team is handling the virus. 

Finally, we’ll move into conversations with Tami Garrison of Molson Coors, Peggy Williams-Smith of Visit Milwaukee, Omar Shaikh of Carnevor, Jeff Sherman of OnMilwaukee, and more about how they and their organizations are actively dealing with COVID-19.

Unfortunately, when huge events like the DNC, the Bucks NBA Playoffs run and Summerfest are being postponed, the Milwaukee tourism industry is going to take a hit. We talked to Peggy Williams-Smith of Visit Milwaukee to discuss the impact the virus has had and will continue to have on Milwaukee, and what this summer and fall could look like.

Meanwhile, Omar Shaikh of SURG Restaurant Group Carnevor gave us a peek behind the curtain of the restaurant world during these times, and let us know about a special project he is working on with Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich to help healthcare workers during COVID-19.

We close the show with OnMilwaukee’s very own Jeff Sherman to talk about how the online publication is reporting on the virus. Sherman talks about OnMilwaukee’s responsibility to bring the community together while providing Milwaukeeans the essential information they need right now. We’ll also hear about the process behind OnMilwaukee’s April Fools articles this year.
