Friend of the pod Brandon Tschacher is a pioneer in the Esports realm. Tschacher saw the opportunities that came with Esports and thus founded MKEsports Alliance, an organization dedicated to growing the Esports culture within the Milwaukee community.
On today’s episode of The GoGedders Podcast, Brandon Tschacher and host Richie Burke explore what exactly Esports is and where it could take us in the next few years. They cover topics such as the appropriate gaming age, AR, VR, the future of the industry and more.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the topic of Esports, allow me to give you a brief overview. I myself was a novice until listening to this episode, so if you’d like to learn more, I recommend going directly to the source. However, in short, Esports – electronic sports – refers to competitive video gaming watched by spectators. It’s quite similar to the sporting events we’ve come to know and love: cheering fans (either in a stadium or watching from on a TV at home), talented athletes and a heck of a lot of fun. Just replace athletes with gamers, and you’ve got Esports. However, in the episode, Brandon mentions there will be a crossover between virtual reality and physical athleticism.
Even if you don’t consider yourself a gamer, Esports is an intriguing topic considering it could soon be the way of the future. The Esports market is valued at over $1 billion and is forecasted to be worth approximately $1.62 billion by 2024 (dotesports). An industry set on growing, despite the recent pandemic.
