Award-winning musician Evan Christian plans to open a Walker's Point jazz and acoustic live music boutique called Gibraltar in the former Felipe's Place, 538 W. National Ave.

The building, which was recently acquired by Milwaukee developer Dieter Wegner, is currently under major construction, but Christian says the plan is to open in mid-September if all goes well with licensing.

Christian has already hired The Belmont's Ryan Casey as the general manger and Aric Weston, formerly of the Iron Horse, as the bar manager.

Gibraltar will offer live music and a full bar and eventually, possibly, small plate dining as well.

"I'm proud and excited to be a part of this growing part of Walker's Point where I am also a resident," says Christian. "I'm really looking forward to contributing in another way to a thriving Milwaukee music scene."
