Today, Gathering Place Brewing, 811 E. Vienna Ave. in Riverwest, is firing up its new innovation brewing system, purchased from its neighbor Spike Brewing, to begin working on the four limited edition beers it will release on Black Friday, Nov. 27.
Just yesterday, the brewery announced it would use its new system to create unique, extremely limited brews for its new innovation member's society.
“So many of the Black Friday releases are dark beers and we wanted to play on the theme of dark and light and how the flavors can be different and yet still complement each other,” says owner and founder Joe Yeado.
Here are the beers brewer Corey Blodgett is working on, with descriptions provided by Yeado.
Lakeside Sunrise, imperial golden ale with Wonderstate coffee and cajeta. Made with Wonderstate coffee and homemade Mexican caramel, this Imperial Golden will have you dreaming of a summer morning sitting on the deck overlooking some serene lake with a mug of coffee in hand and a slice of sea salt caramel kringle from O&H. Lakeside Sunset, imperial golden ale with coffee & cajeta aged on bourbon oak chips. Imagine sitting on the dock with your special someone enjoying a nice warming cocktail watching the Autumn sun set over the lake. Autumn Night Campfire, imperial stout with juniper berries, orange peel, and star anise. Our Imperial Stout has subtle spice and citrus notes complemented by a smooth roastiness that will have you feeling warm and cozy by the fire in the late nights of autumn. ABV: 10% IBU: 24
Fireside Negroni, imperial stout with juniper berries, orange peel, and star anise, aged on vermouth oak chips. It is a brisk Autumn night and you and your special someone are cozying up to the fire with a nice cocktail, or in this case a nice Imperial Stout Negroni with juniper berries, orange peel, & star anise aged on vermouth oak chips. ABV: 10% IBU: 24
Each of these beers will be packaged in 500mL bottles sold for $10 each or $35 for a bundle of all four. Only about 100 bottles of each beer will be made and they'll be available for pre-order beginning Nov. 19.
Gathering Place will be open 2-8 p.m. on Black Friday.
In related news, Blodgett and Yeado are teaming with the folks at the new Scout Wine Merchants, expected to open around Nov. 22 in Shorewood, on a unique house brew for the new combination wine bar and food market.
“We’re excited to be working with one of our favorite breweries to create a beer that will represent what Scout is and giving beer lovers something to unique to savor,” says Luke Laga, who co-owns Scout with his wife Emily.
