Likewise Coffee, 232 E. Erie St., is ready to help coffee lovers shake off their January blues with their annual Free Espresso February, an offering meant to lift folks’ spirits while encouraging them to explore potentially new territory.

Throughout February, Likewise is offering all guests the opportunity to enjoy one free espresso per day. There’s no catch, aside from the simple request that you take a moment to enjoy. 

“Hang out at the bar for those two or three sips,” notes Likewise Owner Scott Lucey. “Enjoy the tiny cup (demitasse) with the tiny spoon and the tiny saucer. If you insist, you can add some sugar but please try it with no modifications, it may likely be better than you expect.”

You've got options

Guests can choose from two daily offerings:  Flyway, their house espresso blend created by Wonderstate Coffee; or Idido, an espresso made from single origin washed Ethiopian coffee beans.

“Flyway is roasted with more depth,” says Lucey. “But there’s no burnt flavor, no bitterness. Instead, you might pick up notes of brown butter, caramel, nuttiness or chocolate.”

As for Idido, he says that the Ethiopian brew offers more subtle notes of black tea, lemon, lavender and honey.

“There’s a special enjoyment and a distinct vibe in a place where people are drinking traditional espresso drinks,” notes Lucy. “Coffee can be magically good and we believe we can give that to the people walking through our door.”

Likewise Coffee is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
