The folks at Dairyland Old Fashioned Hamburgers have been busy. The business, which launched at Common Cookhouse, 924 E Rawson Ave., in Oak Creek last September, swiftly grew with the addition of an increasingly popular food trailer at Zocalo Food Park, 636 S, 6th St., where they’ve been serving up a menu of burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, sides and desserts since November.
And this week, they released yet another very promising offering: Spicy Chicken Deluxe, a spice-infused hand-battered chicken breast topped with mayo, dill pickles, lettuce and tomato, served on a toasted bun ($6.95).
Based on Dairyland’s overall track record serving up delicious burgers, it might be rightful to assume that their new spicy chicken sandwich would hit it smack dab out of the ballpark.
But, just to be sure, my FoodCrush podcast cohost Matt Mueller and I decided to put it to the test, snapping up some of the first sandwiches hot off the truck.
With so much competition in the spicy chicken sandwich space, is the Spicy Chicken Deluxe worth clucking about? Watch and see.
But don’t take our word for it
You can try out the new chicken sandwich your choice of Dairyland locations (Oak Creek or Zocalo Food Park) during regular business hours.
Or you can make it a point to stop by on Feb. 24 for their “Fried Chicken Sandwich Extravaganza,” an event launched as part of Visit Milwaukee’s Giving Fest. Proceeds from all chicken sandwiches (spicy or regular) purchased on Feb 24 will be donated to Alice's Garden, an community farm which seeks to preserve food and food culture through the cultural art of urban farming.
Dairyland is also serving up brand new BRRRunch offerings at both locations beginning this weekend, along with fish filet sandwiches every day in Febuary and their soon-to-be famous fish fry every Wednesday and Friday during the Lenten season.
