What better way to ring in a newly revamped stage than by blowing the roof off of it with the help of a legendary rock band? Summerfest apparently couldn't agree more, as the Amp will host Foo Fighters for its grand re-opening concert on Friday, July 30.
The show will not only mark the 12-time Grammy-winning rock band's first show in Milwaukee since 2018 at Fiserv Forum, but also the first concert period at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater in over a year. The show will serve as the grand reintroduction to the Amp after its two-year, more than $50 million rejuvenation – and just a month before the Big Gig opens in early September.
“A legendary band for a legendary venue! What a great way to open our new building,” said Don Smiley, President and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., in a release. “We couldn’t be more excited to host Foo Fighters for the first concert at the new American Family Insurance Amphitheater. This venue is built for legendary bands, and we look forward to making some noise this summer, starting with the Foos.”
Tickets for the show will go on sale beginning Friday, June 4 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest box office. However, there will also be a presale for Citi cardmembers that runs today at 11 a.m. through Thursday, June 3 at 10 p.m. For more information on how cardmembers can participate in the presale, visit Citi's website.
And stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more concert announcements.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
