A special pop-up featuring Fogo de Chão, will be a feature at the Sept. 22 Brewers home game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Founded in Southern Brazil in 1979, Fogo de Chão (fogo-dee-shown) celebrates the centuries-old cooking technique of churrasco, the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meat over an open flame at 57 locations across the globe.

The Brewers’ newest outfielder, Eduardo Escobar, has been a longtime supporter of the internationally-renowned steakhouse, frequently using #FogoPower after double hitters and homers. In fact, reports surmise that he actually plays better when he’s batting in proximity to a Fogo de Chão location. 

Since there’s no Fogo de Chão location in Milwaukee, the restaurant decided to pull out all the stops and deliver some “Fogo Power” to Brewers’ fans headed to the game. 

Pop-up details

During the pop-up, which takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 4 to 6:40 p.m. just outside the Third Base gate, Brewers fans will be able to watch gaucho chefs practice the culinary art of “churrasco,” as they slow-roast meats on a mobile grill right outside of the stadium.

They will also be able to taste complementary samples of Escobar’s favorite fire-roasted cuts, including the house specialty, Picanha, as well as fresh Market Table salads and sides, including their signature Brazilian potato salad and more. The tailgate will be complimentary to all Brewers fans attending the game and will be served on a first come, first serve basis until the game starts.

Plans for the pop-up were broached on social media when Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão, offered up an open letter to the Mayor calling for a welcome celebration for Escobar in his new home town. The letter was met with comments and retweets from fans, assisting in cementing the plans for the tailgate pop-up.
