If you’d ask me any other year, I’d tell you that I don’t want summer to ever end. It always feels way too short, and the prospect of six cold, dark months of winter ahead gives me the shivers before the snow even flies.

But this has been a weird summer. Atypical temperature swings, a historical Brewers collapse – I’ve personally felt a little sluggish and a lot sweaty for a few months now.

So, I might regret saying this, but I think I’m ready for fall. Here are five reasons why:

Cool nights – I love warm days, but I hate hot nights. I can’t sleep in the heat, and September and October in Wisconsin are perfect for those crisp evenings before the frost arrives. Speaking of which ...

Fall clothes – It’s hard for a guy to dress well in the summer. What’s left of my hair is at its frizziest, and I’m relegated to polo shirts and rolled-up sleeves as I sweat through dressier shirts. While I’d wear sandals year-round if I could, jeans usually aren’t comfortable in August. Fall opens up a bunch of layering options.

Breaking Bad – My favorite show started its final run last night and will conclude just when fall is in full swing. I’m very, very excited for every Sunday night between now and the series finale.

Packers – I don’t usually get too excited for the first Packers’ preseason game, but the Brewers have been so frustrating, so disappointing, that I can barely watch them right now. And I’m not a fair-weather fan, either. It usually takes me until October to gear up for the NFL. But I’m ready now. Right now.

Our 15th anniversary – Sept. 1 marks the 15th anniversary of the launch of OnMilwaukee.com. I remember that day, sitting in my apartment, like it was yesterday. We’re working on some fun promotions and surprises to commemorate this milestone that we’ll share with you soon.
