The long-awaited 2021 Wisconsin Sate Fair comes to an end this Sunday which means the time is nigh to make a first or final journey. And it's been a long week of too much rain and not enough power so you've more than earned your ticket to a few hours of indulgence.
Sure, cream puffs, carnival rides, foods-on-sticks, slide rides, live music, shopping and farm animals attract us to the Fair. But the reasons why we love the Fair and find ourselves there year after year, generation after generation, run much deeper.
1. The memories
Time goes by so quickly and what we are left with are memories – something the State Fair is stellar at creating. And when you capture those memories, you'll have photos to cherish for a lifetime that instantly transport you back to the happiest of days with your favorite people.
2. The magic
Going to the Fair is like stepping into another world, one that heightens our sense of sight, smell, sound and taste. If we lean into that, the experience is nothing short of magical.
3. The romance
Love is always in the air at the Fair! It's the primo spot for a date night – or a date day – and even a place to create new romance under the luminous Ferris wheel or while in line for a decadent dessert that's large enough for two.
4. The freedom
Everyone who walks through the Fair gates has permission to deep dive into whatever floats their boat. Good food? Strong drink? Watching dogs do tricks in pools? Go for it. Now that's freedom.
5. The human connection
When people from all walks of life gather in one spot, we become creatures with the same mission: to have fun, make memories, enjoy the moment, and free ourselves from our everyday lives for a few hours. And if we happen to eat something delicious on a stick and see a smiling cow during that time, well, all the better.
